As part of the exhibition "La couleur parle toutes les langues. Œuvres choisies de la Collection Al Thani", the Fondation Al Thani and the Centre des monuments nationaux will organize a series of conferences from January to May 2025, exploring the power of colors across world civilizations. This cultural program invites you to delve into fascinating worlds where the chromatic nuances of materials and artworks reveal much more than mere visual effects.

CONFERENCE: Colors and Andean Cosmovision


On May 13, 2025, at 6:30 PM, join a unique conference at the Hôtel de la Marine exploring the role of color within the Andean cosmovision. This session offers an immersive experience into the world of colored metals and alloys used by ancient Peruvian cultures. Discover how the use of these precious materials held profound social and cultural significance. Far from being random, artisans' choices were driven by symbolic needs reflecting the beliefs and collective demands of their time.

THE EXHIBITION: An Invitation to Explore the Colors of the World


This conference is part of a broader program connected to the exhibition "La couleur parle toutes les langues. Œuvres choisies de la Collection Al Thani" on view at the Hôtel de la Marine from October 3, 2024, to October 5, 2025. Through a curated selection of artworks from five continents—Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania—this exhibition offers a unique approach to color, organized around six fundamental hues: black, white, red, yellow, blue, and green. Each section unveils the symbolism and diversity of colors in artistic practices across time and space, featuring a wide range of objects including sculptures, textiles, ceramics, and jewelry.
